Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyet forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq while denouncing the civilian killings by Indian firing in Azad Jammu and Kashmir has said that the lingering Kashmir dispute is the result of India’s obduracy and stubbornness which fails to understand that human will cannot be suppressed by military might and oppression.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar termed the killing of 11 civilians and injuries to half-a-dozen persons travelling in a passenger bus in Neelam Valley and attack on a rescue ambulance of the Pakistan Army by Indian troops as barbaric. He expressed his sympathy with the bereaved families and prayed for the early recovery of the injured.

“The lingering Kashmir dispute is the result of India’s obduracy and stubbornness which fails to understand that human will cannot be suppressed by military might and oppression,” he added.

The Mirwaiz, who is under continued house arrest, also welcomed the adoption of Pakistan-sponsored resolution on people’s right to self-determination by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Committee. He commended the Government of Pakistan for its persistent diplomatic efforts in introducing the resolution which was co-sponsored by 72 countries.

The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Mohammad Yasin Malik in a statement in Srinagar, denouncing the civilian killings by Indian firing in Azad Jammu and Kashmir deplored the silence of Indian brutalities on the Kashmiris. He said that the lingering Kashmir dispute could prove disastrous for the entire region.

The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir National Font, Nayeem Ahmad Khan in his statement in Srinagar expressed concern over the civilian killings due to the India aggression along the Line of Control. He said that cordial relations between New Delhi and Islamabad were not possible as long as Kashmir dispute remained unresolved.

Illegally detained Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement, Zafar Akbar Butt, in his statement expressed deep grief over the killing of civilians and escalation at the Line of Control. He appealed to the two countries to observe restraint and resolve the core issue of Kashmir, which was the reason of confrontation between them.
