Muzaffarabad: The 69th anniversary of the foundation of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government was celebrated in the region on Monday with zeal and national fervour.
The main event of the day was held at the city campus of Azad Jammu and Kashmir University, with Acting AJK President Shah Ghulam Qadir the chief guest. The day dawned with 21 gun salutes in the state capital. Special prayers were offered in the mosques after Namaz-e-Fajjar for integrity, prosperity of Pakistan and early liberation of occupied Jammu and Kashmir. It was public holiday in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Special functions, flag hoisting and prayer ceremonies were held at all district headquarters of the state to mark the day. Special tributes were paid to the Shuhada and heroes of the Kashmir liberation struggle.
In the state capital Muzaffarabad addressing the main ceremony acting President Shah Ghulam Qadir reiterated the resolve of the Kashmiri people that struggle would continue till the liberation of occupied Jammu and Kashmir from Indian clutches.
He said Kashmiris had linked their destiny with Pakistan through a historical resolution on 19th July 1947 and have rendered unprecedented sacrifices to achieve this goal.
Shah Ghulam Qadir said that AJK Government was established on 24th October 1947 aimed at continuing the liberation struggle till its logical conclusion. He said people and Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir will never leave their brethren alone in their in struggle for internationally recognized right to self-determination.
He lauded Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for raising strong voice for Kashmiris at international level.
Acting President urged International community to take serious notice of Indian state terrorism in occupied territory to crush indigenous struggle of Kashmir people for their birth right.
He paid glowing tributes to the Ghazees and shuhada of Kashmir liberation struggle and expressed confidence that sacrifices of Kashmir people will bring fruit soon and the day is not far off when people of Kashmir will succeed in their struggle.
The ceremony was attended by AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan, Former Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, Ministers, Members of AJK Legislative Assembly, high-ranking civil and military officials, notables and large number of people belonging to different walks of life. A smart contingent of Azad Kashmir Police presented guard of honor to AJK President on this occasion.
