Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi old and dilapidated buildings are posing great threat to human lives in the ongoing monsoon season as authority concern has to take stern action in this regard.
In a survey conducted by the news agency revealed that number of buildings in the city including Faizul Islam Boys School building at Raja Bazaar, Soran Jan Singh Haveli Bhabhara Bazaar along with 17 other big and small houses, 13 buildings in Mohalla Shah Chaan Chriagh, 12 in Nishterabad, 9 in Landa Bazaar and several other buildings of Gulistan Colony and Tariq Abad have already declared sensitive and the district administration hasn’t take action against the owners of these defective buildings.
Sources stated that administration had only issued temporary notices to the owners of these building but hadn’t taken the further action.
It seems that concerned authority was waiting for a terrible incident as Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall during coming days and most of the families are still living in dilapidated buildings in the city and cantonment board localities.
It was worth mentioned here that concerned civic body during a survey found out more than 150 poor conditioned buildings which could fall down with heavy rains or earthquake. These buildings become more dangerous particularly during monsoon season.
The social circles of Rawalpindi city have appealed to higher authorities of the concerned department to take notice of the situation and take concrete steps to get the dilapidated buildings vacated at least during monsoon season to avoid any untoward incident.
