Peshawar: Women police officials have been deployed at the checkpoints across the city after the terrorists clad in burqas stormed the Agriculture Training Institute in Peshawar early Friday morning at Agriculture Directorate.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) operations Sajjad Khan asserted that the decision to deploy women police officials was taken after the assault on the ATI by the terrorists.
SSP said that these women police officials will check the women coming from the tribal areas.
It is pertinent to mention here that at least nine people were killed and 37 injured in a militant attack at Directorate of Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in Peshawar.
While speaking to media SSP Operations Sajjad Khan said, “The attackers wearing suicide jackets under the burqas reached the compound in a rickshaw.
He said that their first target was the security guard, after which they headed inside towards the students’ hostel of the Agriculture Training Institute.
Sajjad Khan added that they could have done a lot more damage but the police and army successfully neutralized the threat.
On the other hand, Lawmakers in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Monday demanded an inquiry into the terrorist attack on the Agriculture Training Institute (ATI).
“The issue is getting from bad to worse. We need to have a joint and clear stance on the issue. We need to fight politically against the mindset behind the terrorist activities and we need to stop it,” said members of provincial assembly.
