SHARJAH: New Zealand defeated Pakistan by eight runs in the first one-day at Sharjah on Tuesday.
Batting first, New Zealand amassed 240/9 in their 50 overs.
Sophie Devine was the standout player as she scored 103 runs off 119 balls with 10 boundaries to her name while skipper Suzie Bates and Amelia Kerr scored 36 and 30 runs with the bat respectively.
Sana Mir took three wickets for Pakistan while Sadia Yousuf and Javeria Khan grabbed two wickets each.
Pakistan, chasing 241 runs to win in their 50 overs, were all out after scoring 232 in 48.3 overs.
Javeria Khan and Nahida Khan made half centuries for the team.
Khan scored 55 runs from 73 balls with the help of four boundaries while Nahida Khan contributed 51 runs from 62 balls with seven fours to her name.
Marooof made 41 runs and Sidra Ameen scored 33 runs.
Hollu Huddleston, Leigh Kasperek and Kerr grabbed two wickets in the match.
Sophie Devine was named the Player of the Match for her performance with the bat.
