MIRPUR (AJK): (Altaf Hamid Rao) With the very much hopes of rainfall during next 24 hours, AJKs’ largest Mirpur city and rest of the district Monday went in to the grip of scorching heat wave after the area witnessed highest temperature that rose to 46.05 degree centigrade on Monday while as power outage along with erratic water supply continue to add to the woes of the people during the scorching heat.
With the mercury touching 46.05 degrees Celsius mark, the day temperature as gone 4.05 degrees above the normal temperature thereby affecting the normal life, the concerned department sources told Monday afternoon.
It may be recalled that the highest ever temperature during the last summer was recorded at 47.5 degrees Celsius and the possibility of mercury crossing the last year’s mark cannot be ruled out keeping in view the prevailing weather conditions.
The fast rising temperature in the area has thrown the life out of gear with people particularly two wheeler riders are seen covering their faces with clothes in order to avoid getting affected by sun stroke.
On one side, the scorching heat has gradually started affecting the normal life, the scheduled long power cuts and subsequent erratic water supply in various parts of the city including the slums, located on the pariphary of the country’s biggest Mangla Dam
were adding to the woes of the people on the other side thereby creating resentment among the local population.
