Hails state newspapers for projecting Kashmir cause at global level
ISLAMABAD,(Parliament Times): While expressing his serious concern over the stepped-up human rights violations in Indian occupied Kashmir, the federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz has said that the PTI government has vociferously raised the voice of Kashmiris besides exposing India’s brutal face before the world. The Federal Minister made these assertions while addressing an oath taking ceremony of the newly elected office bearers of Kashmir Newspaper Society (AKNS) at National Press Club Islamabad on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Faraz castigated the international community for its criminal silence and apathy towards the sufferings of Kashmiri people. He said that the PTI government would utilize all its resources to promote and project the cause of Kashmir.
Highlighting the state newspapers contribution in projecting the Kashmir cause Mr. Shibli said that the media had played a crucial role to expose brutalities committed against Kashmiris by Indian occupation forces. Referring to financial problems faced by the media industry he said, “We will do our best to solve the problems faced by the media industry”. Congratulating the newly elected body he assured that the problems of Kashmiri newspapers would be solved on priority basis. Besides the AKNS President Sardar Zahid Tabassum, Senior Vice President Chaudhry Khalid Mahmood, Vice President Javed Chaudhry, General Secretary Raja Amjad Hussain, Finance Secretary Javed Iqbal, Information Secretary Nisar Kayani, DG Information Azad Kashmir Raja Azhar Iqbal, Former Minister for Information and Central Leader PTI Azad Kashmir Majid Khan, Former President PFUJ Afzal Butt, Murtaza Durrani, Raja Kafil, Khawaja Matin, Sardar Shaukat Mehmood and Ejaz Abbasi and others were present on the occasion.
The AKNS President Sardar Zahid Tabassum said that Kashmiri newspapers had promoted the Kashmiris’ ongoing freedom struggle and would continue to expose the so-called democratic face of India all over the world. He expressed the hope that the Government of Pakistan would play its due role in resolving the problems faced by Kashmir newspapers. DG Information Azad Kashmir Raja Azhar Iqbal while congratulating the newly elected officials of the AKNS expressed hope that the organization would continue to strengthen the workers and institutions as before. Referring to increase in budget for state newspapers he said that the government of AJK has always been forthcoming in addressing the problems faced by the media industry.
