Islamabad, (Parliament Times) : The District Health Office Islamabad, Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination, in collaboration with esteemed partners including UNICEF, World Health Organization (WHO), Federal Directorate of Immunization, and various other organizations, proudly organized a vibrant and spirited ‘Run & Ride’ event at F-9 Park on April 27, 2024.

The event, themed ‘Celebrating Lifesaving Milestones’ and ‘Vaccines for Pakistan,’ was a festive showcase of community engagement and commitment to immunization initiatives. As part of the broader celebration of ‘World Immunization Week’ from April 24 to 30, the event aimed to raise awareness about the critical role of vaccines in safeguarding public health and promoting wellbeing. Participants from across the federal capital joined hands with DHO employees in a series of wholesome activities, including cycle rallies and running competitions, infusing the occasion with joy and enthusiasm.

The presence of distinguished guests, including Health Coordination, Secretary of Health, DG Health, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, and senior officials, underscored the significance of collective action toward immunization advocacy.

This year’s theme, ‘The Big Catch-up,’ resonated throughout the event, emphasizing the imperative of global collaboration to ensure widespread access to life-saving vaccines. Messages delivered during the event stressed the importance of timely vaccination, urging parents to immunize their children against 12 deadly diseases by the age of two.

Reflecting on the government’s commitment to universal immunization, Dr. Zaeem Zia, District Health Officer (DHO), Islamabad, expressed gratitude to frontline healthcare workers for their unwavering dedication. He reiterated the government’s pledge to achieve 100 percent vaccination registration and availability, particularly in remote and underserved communities.

The success of the ‘Run & Ride’ event was made possible through the generous support and collaboration of various stakeholders, including the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination Islamabad, WHO, UNICEF Pakistan, and others. The event also received invaluable assistance from the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Islamabad, Capital Development Authority (CDA), and Islamabad Traffic Police.

At the end, the District Health Office extends heartfelt appreciation to all participants, volunteers, organizers, and partners for their invaluable contributions to making the event a resounding success.
