QUETTA, (Parliament Times) : Pakistan-China friendship is higher and stronger than the Himalayas and this friendship will continue to grow stronger. These views were expressed by Senator Samina Mumtaz Zehri in her message on the completion of a decade of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project this year. She said that Pakistan's relations with China have always been stable and fraternal and it is getting better and stronger with time. She said that the role of China in the region is important and for socio-economic development, Afghanistan is willing to work together with all stakeholders including Pakistan and China to achieve peace and stability in Afghanistan. Peace and stability in the region is indispensable for socio- economic development, connectivity and prosperity. She further said that Pakistan will continue to work with all stakeholders for a peaceful, stable, prosperous and united Afghanistan. Pakistan is not in favor of block politics or any kind of competition for more power. She said that Pakistan looks forward to working with all countries to address the common challenges of development and connectivity. We remain committed to engaging with China to promote cooperation in the light of emerging global concerns such as man-made climate change, she added.
Senator Samina Mumtaz Zehri further said that the friendship between Pakistan and China is over than
72 years old, which has been getting stronger for many years and there is a consensus on it despite
ethnic and political divisions and will continue to stand together in the decades to come. It is gratifying
that this year marks the tenth anniversary of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project, which is an
outstanding example of Belt and Road cooperation and promoting socio-economic development. This
project has created employment opportunities and is improving the lives of people in Pakistan. She also
said that CPEC is an economic initiative that is an attractive project for investors from all over the world.
Appreciating the fair stand, she said that China has always supported Pakistan's stand, for which we are grateful for China's continuous cooperation and support. Pakistan will also continue to support China on all fundamental issues including the One China Policy. Senator Samina Mumtaz Zehri said that bilateral cooperation between the two countries needs to be further strengthened and consolidated. For this purpose, cooperation between the two countries in various projects will continue. She said that Pakistan and China are always ready to help in the reconstruction of Afghanistan and hope that Afghanistan will also address the concerns of its neighbors about terrorism.
She said that Afghanistan is also Pakistan's neighbor and brother country. As Afghanistan has seen
difficult times and wars for the past several decades. Senator Samina Mumtaz Zahri said that China and
Pakistan are ready to provide economic support to Afghanistan. Pakistan is ready to increase security
and counter-terrorism cooperation with China and Afghanistan so that terrorist groups’ action can be
taken against. She said that it is also the duty of the international community to try to solve the
problems of the people of Afghanistan who are moving towards peace after long wars. The cooperation
between Pakistan and China will be important in maintaining the balance between the countries.
