KARACHI,  (Parliament Times) : The Prime Minister of the Free State of Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, had said that the incident of Kannan Pushpura was a symbol of India’s cruelty and brutality. The silence of the international community on this incident was a moment of concern for us. Kashmiris celebrated this incident as Kashmir Women’s Resistance Day. Kashmiri women were suffering from the worst violations of human rights by the occupying Indian soldiers and police personnel. This is not a single incident of oppression and oppression of Kashmiris by India, but such incidents were happening in the occupied valley every day, which was shocking to humanity. Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan said that their new generation hardly knew about this incident, it is today. Exactly 32 years ago, there was a painful tragedy on 23 February 1991, Kanan Poshpura incident had a bitter memory that could never be distorted in the history of Kashmir. Kanan Poshpura were the names of two twin villages in Kashmir.
These two villages are located in the Kupwara district, about 90 kilometres north of Srinagar, the capital of Kashmir. The Prime Minister said that on the cold and dark night of February 23, 1991, when the waters in Kashmir were freezing and turned into snow, 4 Rajputana Rifles and a company of 68 Mountain Brigade from Trihgam Army Camp encircled Kanan Pooshpura. Went out to get it. First, he informed an Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police, Mohammad Sultan, who sent two police constables, Abdul Ghani and Bashir Ahmed, to accompany him to the village. The army reached Kannan Poshpura at 11 pm and surrounded the two villages and announced from the mosques that all the men should come out of their houses. Women were left alone at home. One by one, the men were physically tortured and killed, and those with few remains were tied to trees. Then the drunken Indian beasts entered the houses and made more than 100 women from 8-year-old girls to 80-year-olds a collective disgrace. No one knew about this tragedy.
Because thirty-two years ago, these media resources were not available, women victims of violence did not have a ray of hope to take their complaints to, the local police were not ready to cooperate, it was difficult to convey the voice to the world, the courts and investigative institutions were not independent. Finally, Kashmir. Five students of Isar Batul, Afrabat, Samrina Mushtaq, Manza Rashid, and Natasha Rather. By writing a book called “Kya Aap Kanan Poshpura Yada Hai”, he made the world aware of the cruelty and brutality of Cross, exposed the brutality and brutality of India, drew the attention of international human rights organizations to what was happening in Indian Occupied Kashmir.
He said that this book was released in 2016 by the International Development Research Center Canada, and this book brought out global fame and the disgraceful face of the Indian Army. This book talked about the justice that these women did not get even after 25 years. This book showed how these uniformed soldiers commit sexual violence against women not only in Kashmir but in other places and then how they escape punishment. This 228-page book was about cruelty and oppression. She told the story. These five girls had researched small to big incidents and penned them down. This book was the sad story of that terrible night that still haunts us today. This book is the story of these oppressed women who were still waiting for justice after almost twenty-five years. They said that this book of these girls presents the picture of oppression which was kept under the veil of Kanan Poshpura. The book presented the brutality of the army like no other.
It presents the ugly face of the army, which everyone hated to see. This book talked about justice, which was a pillar of democracy, this book was a memory that the Kashmiri nation could never forget, this book was an Indian book. There were FIRs against the occupation which could not be terminated under any circumstances. It was mentioned in the book that Abdul Ghani Constable who was an eyewitness of the entire incident and also a resident of the village was brutally killed by the Indian Army in 1993. His crime was that he had lifted a child from the snow, whom the soldiers had snatched from the mother’s arms and thrown out of the house into the snow to quench the fire of lust. These brave women of Kashmir had not only written a book but knocked on every door to bring the criminals to justice. Filed a writ. After that, the army used big tactics, even blasting in Kannan and Pushpora so that these people would withdraw the case out of fear, but it did not happen. After a long and difficult process, in 2014, the Kashmir High Court acquitted the victims. Orders were issued to give compensation but it was not implemented, later this decision was challenged in the Supreme Court, where the case is still pending. He said that such a collective disgrace had never been witnessed in the world. Kanan, Poshpura’s social life today is also affected and embarrassed. The people there had not come out of the RAW grip of this Ra from that day till today. This incident had been called mass rape. Kashmiris had been observing this incident as Kashmir Women’s Resistance Day since February 23, 2013. Kashmiri women had been subjected to the worst human rights violations by the occupying Indian soldiers and police personnel.
