FAISALABAD: Under the auspices of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( FCCI) the first meeting of FCCI Council of Textiles was held under the chairmanship of Chairman Kashif Zia, in which Dr. Khurram Tariq, Chairman Muhammad Ahmed of Textile Exporters Association, All Pakistan Bed Sheet, Arif Ehsan Malik of Sheets and Upholstery Manufacturers Association, Asghar Qadri of All Pakistan Textile Printing Mills Association, Imran Ghafoor of All Pakistan Textile Mills Association, Ejaz Ahmed Nagra and Abdullah Qadri of All Pakistan Cotton Power Looms Association also attended the meeting, it was considered to raise a strong and energetic voice to create uniformity in the collective demands of the Textile sector. President Dr. Khurram Tariq said that the purpose of the Textile Council is to create harmony and unity in the various sectors of the sector and this responsibility has been entrusted to Kashif Zia. He said that different sectors have their own separate associations while it is a difficult and difficult stage to take all the problems on the platform of the chamber. He said that the interests of one sector may clash with another sector and that is why the collective problems of textiles are not resolved at the government level under the guise of our mutual differences. He said that we are trying to resolve these differences locally so that the efforts made at the national level can be fruitful. He said that all the sectors are related to textiles, so we should avoid things that harm other sectors or show mutual conflict. He asked the participants of the meeting to express their views in this regard so that an agreed course of action can be decided. President Chamber said that the process of reduction in exports has started, the effects of which will be noticeable in the first quarter of this year. are expected to lose up to one billion dollars per month. Commenting on the current situation, he said that the production of his own institutions has decreased by thirty percent. He said that most of the industrial establishments are running at 60-70% capacity, but the real problem is that if the prices of electricity and gas increase further, then what will happen. Dr. Khurram Tariq said that all the associations should do complete homework regarding their demands and data and submit their comprehensive proposals so that the collective demands can be finalized after reviewing them. The President agreed with the suggestion that members could bring with them members with visionary and creative thinking. It was decided in the meeting that regional trade should be promoted and in this regard increasing trade with India and Iran should be prioritized. Moreover, there is a need to make agreements with Far East countries to increase trade. Similarly, there is a need to focus on the production of sustainable products to benefit from the western markets. The President expressed concern over the strategy of international organizations regarding health and safety and said that to overcome this, we need to focus on research and development as well as an aggressive foreign policy. He added that unconventionally struggling to search for new markets and to accelerate efforts for business promotion needs are the real focus. President Chamber said that it is the duty of the industries to establish their own research and development institutes as such institutes lose their usefulness in the public sector. He further said that the relevant participants should complete their working on the issues discussed in this meeting and present them in the next meeting so that necessary steps can be taken to implement them. He said that at present, many institutions have adjusted the workers despite closing their shifts so that the hearth of their homes is kept burning. He said that if the situation worsens and the institutions are closed, the law and order situation may also deteriorate along with the increase in unemployment. Dr. Khurram Tariq said that he has clearly stated many times before that the government is not giving any subsidy to the textile sector. FESCO is getting electricity for eight cents, which they are selling for nine cents, while we are also bearing the burden of electricity theft in other provinces. Must be accelerated. Senior Vice President Dr. Sajjad Arshad said that there is also a possibility of applying flood duty on imports. Chairman of All Pakistan Textile and Printing Mills Association Asghar Qadri demanded to bring the general sales tax rate to single digit and said that due to the incompleteness of China, their members will have to pay 17% GST and 3% Further Tax. Having to pay, he said that many textile printing establishments are closed while the rest are running at 50% capacity. He also suggested the establishment of an Air cargo terminal and new canals to make the idle and barren lands of the country arable.
