Muzaffarabad,  (Parliament Times) : Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan while seeking the European Parliamentary delegation’s urgent attention towards the abysmal situation in the Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK) has said that India was involved in serious human rights violations in the Occupied territory.

The PM said this while talking to a delegation of the European Parliamentarians Mr. Herve Juvin and Mrs Virginie Joron who called on him here today. Senior Minister Khawaja Farooq Ahmed, Finance Minister Abdul Majid Khan, Forest Minister Akmal Sargala, Chief Secretary Muhammad Usman Chachar and others were also present on the occasion.Referring to the BJP government’s designs aimed at changing the region’s demography the PM told the visiting delegates that in the aftermath of August 5 2019 India was trying to turn the Muslim majority into a minority in Occupied Kashmir by issuing domicile to millions of non-state residents.He said that on the one hand Indian troops were engaged in ruthless killing of innocent Kashmiris while on the other people were being harassed, humiliated and tortured day in a day out. He said that Indian troops were using rape as weapon of war. He noted that the silence of the international community on the ongoing atrocities in Occupied Kashmir was regrettable.To the contrary, the PM said that in Azad Kashmir the process of construction and development has been going on for the past seven decades. He said that India has turned Kashmir into a no-go area for outsiders whereas the liberated territory (Azad Kashmir) was open to all and any one can visit the region at any time.“Kashmiris are a peaceful nation and we want to solve problems peacefully”, the PM said.

Speaking on this occasion, the members of the European Parliament said that they were aware of the global issues.”Whenever we hear the name of Kashmir, beautiful mountains, rivers and streams come to our mind”, they said, adding that they would play their role to present the AJK’s soft image before the world.“We feel safe here and we have also met people here which shows a clear difference that people here are living freely and the situation here cannot be compared with the people of Occupied Kashmir”, they added.On this occasion, Senior Minister Khawaja Farooq Ahmad said that the Indian forces are committing human atrocities within the Line of Control and Occupied Kashmir. “We want to send a message to the whole world through the delegation of the European Parliament that the people of Occupied Kashmir should be given their basic right of self-determination so that they can live in a dignified manner”, the minister said.Earlier, the visiting delegates were given a detailed briefing on the prevailing political and human rights situation in the Indian occupied Kashmir.
