    International Workshop on Applications of AI & IoT held at PMAS AAUR

    RAWALPINDI,  (Parliament Times) : A 1st International Workshop on Applications of Artificial Intelligence & IoT held at Pir Meh Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi with an aim to highlight the trends, opportunities and applications and research trends in the field of AI and IoT.

    The Vice-Chancellor of PMAS-AAUR Prof. Dr Qamar-uz-Zaman participated as a chief guest in the workshop along with Dr. Aitazaz A. Farooque, University of Prince Edward Island, Canada, T. Randhawa IBM, Canada, Dr. G. S. Randhawa, University of Prince Edward Island, Canada and many other national & international renowned highly qualified and experienced scientists who also delivered their important lecturers on AI & IoT.

    In his welcome address Prof. Dr Qamar-uz-Zaman said that in today’s world, AI and IoT have uplifted the concepts of automation to contribute towards the development of sustainable applications. He said that IT Apps usage has enabled the farming community of the developed countries to minimize their input by increasing their per acre yield. To develop our agriculture sector on modern lines has become the need of the hour because without involving modern techniques Pakistan never achieve its goal towards food security, he said.

    He said that Pakistan is already suffering from food insecurity and the flood situation has made this situation worse so need to encourage and convince our Government and specially farmers for the use of modern technology instead of conventional methods. He further said that university is working hard for quality education and strong Academia-Industry linkages which is the dire need for economic development, modern research and specially internship opportunities for the students.

    He appreciated the Director of University Institute of Information Technology Prof. Dr. Yaser Hafeez and his team for arranging the international workshop which will provide the opportunity to the students and researchers to understand the growth and worth of AI and IoT in the technological era.

    At the end he thanked all the participants, especially the keynote speakers for sparing a moment from their precious time to make this workshop successful by fulfilling its purpose.
