ZHOB: ‘Women have a vital role in the development and betterment of society as they have proved their mettle in all walks of life, but unfortunately they have to face societal indiscrimination particularly in a male-dominated society,’ lament girls’ speakers while delivering speeches on women role at a seminar entitled ‘Role of Women in Pakistani Society’ held at the Government Model Girls’ high school Appozai under Project Pakistan in collaboration with the district administration and the Education Department.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ramzan Palal was the special guest, while those who attended the seminar were included Assistant Commissioner Jarullah Jalalzai, District Education Officer Lal Jan Musakhail, DOE Sheikh Musa Khan Mandokhail, DOE female Fozia Nawaz, DDOE female Harira Rahim, DDOs Ajab Khan Kakar, Akbar Jan Kakar, president Government Teachers’ Association Fateh Khan Mandokhail, Coordinator Education Support Programme Raziq Jan Kakar, Girls’ college professor Rifat Manzoor, headmistress, teachers and students in a large number. The students wearing traditional dresses with delicate handiwork graced the occasion by presenting national songs, tableaus and traditional attan.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ramzan Palal thanked the officers of the Education department for organizing such a successful seminar and cultural show and appreciated the dedication and outstanding performance of the students. He also appreciated the women who were playing a constructive role as professionals in various sectors, apart from fulfilling their traditional responsibilities at their homes.

An exhibition of science and arts was also part of the event. Moreover, a traditional handicrafts and foods competition depicting different cultures including the rich Pashtoon culture also held despite the sizzling heat. Girl students from different schools including Appozai school, Nasarabad, Kharootabad, Islamyar and the City school showcased their projects and science models at the exhibition. Deputy Commoner flanked by the officials took round of the colorful exhibition and appreciated the exhibits on display. Professors at Girls’ Degree college Rifat Manzoor, Sobia Batool, headmistress Model Girls’ school Appozai Mah Rukh Mandokhail and students briefed the Deputy Commissioner about various models and projects. The jury announced that Government Girls’ Model school Appozai won the first position in the competition. The Deputy Commissioner and Education department’s officials distributed prizes among the position holder students and presented souvenirs to journalists Abdul Samad Mandokhail, Rafiullah Mandokhail and Muhammad Rafiq Mandokhail.
