ZHOB: Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ramzan Palal has said that immunization of children is very important for the child’s healthy life, which is the main and most important way to protect children from various diseases. Parents should be aware of their responsibilities and ensure that children are vaccinated.

He was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of free medical camps organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) in collaboration with Trust for Vaccines and Immunization (TVI). The two-day free medical camps were set up at Rural Health Center New Sheikhan, Basic Health Unit Badinzai, HDF health center Nasirabad and slum area Sohrab Goth on the outskirts of Zhob city.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by WHO Immunization Officer (IO) Dr. Nayar Luni, Tehsil Communication Officer Saeedullah Lawoon, UCPO WHO Ehsanullah Babar, TVI Coordinator Muhammad Ayaz Kharoti and medical staff.

Hundreds of patients including women and children suffering from different diseases thronged the free camps, where they were provided with free check up, medicines, OPV to children below the age of five years, diagnostic tests and food supplements to malnourished children besides the anti-polio drops, routine immunization of children and TT vaccines for women. District Support Manager PPHI Dr. Hadi Kibzai and N-Staff Officer Dr. Amin also visited the medical camps and inspected the arrangements and facilities at the camps.

‘Vaccines play a significant role in the prevention of diseases in children. The parents should cooperate with the health staff and get their loved one vaccinated because vaccination is the only way to protect children from the diseases’, said DC Ramzan Palal

Area Coordinator WHO Dr Zakia Niamatullah, who assisted and monitored the camps said the camps were being organized at rural areas slum settlements to help those who do not have proper access to the medical consultation and medicines.

‘Apart from free medical consultation and examination, needy patients are also provided with free of cost medicines at their doorstep’, she added.
