Lahore,(Parliament Times): Chief Minister of Punjab Usman Buzdar has approved to give district status to Murree. The Punjab Chief Minister directed various measures in the light of the recommendations of the Murree tragedy inquiry committee.
Chief Minister Usman Buzdar approved the establishment of an office of the Meteorological Department in Murree and after the local body elections, to give official district status to Murree in the next financial year. The provincial government also transferred several police officers from Murree and ASP Taxila Muhammad Waqas Khan was given additional charge of SDPO Murree.
It may be recalled that after the recent blizzard in Murree, which killed more than 20 civilians in their vehicles, the Punjab government had announced to give Murree district status.
