Rawalpindi,  (Parliament Times) : Stressing that no required economic growth is possible sans making tax collection 40 percent of GDP, the experts at a seminar called for placing multiple reforms including adopting of professional tax advisory system at mass scale to shun the doors of scourge of tax evasion.

The seminar on “Importance and Need of Professional Tax Advisors in the Promotion of Tax Culture” was held here in a local hotel under the arrangements of Knight Human Management (KHM) Shalaan GL Pakistan in collaboration of Government College Women University and Institute of Tax Training. Among those who were present included the Vice Chancellor of GC Women University Dr. Robina Farooq, Head of Sociology Sajida Perveen, Registrar Asif A. Malik, Dr. Syeda Samina, Director of student consultancy KHM Majid Bashir, Directors of Tax Training Institute Mr. Mehdi, Ahmed Abdullah and others.

VC GC Women University Dr. Robina Farooq said the more we have professional tax advisors, the more tax income rise and broad the tax net and culture. Simplifying the laws of tax coupled with their mass awareness will add to achieve this goal more easily and effectively. She also admired the efforts of KHM and Institute of Tax Training for launching Trained Expert Professional project under which the students of different universities especially females, under an agreement between KHM and Inter-University Consortium, would be facilitated with the education of tax advisory. She added that professional tax advisors can play a vital role in just collection of taxes. “Trained expert professionals shall make the heads of their organizations aware of implementation of complex tax laws and help them avoid illegal payments to the corrupt elements of tax departments”, she mentioned. She said this project would reap the multiple results including widening the tax net and respectable job opportunities for trained professionals in trade and industry.

Mr. Mehdi and Majid Bashir said under the agreement with the Inter-University Consortium, KHM Institute of Tax Training would give education to students about business tax, income tax, corporate tax, personal and other taxes. They said due to complex and blurred laws of taxes, a large number of tax payers have to meet the illegal demands of tax collectors thus involve in tax evasion in spite of paying money. “Trained Expert Professionals are the dire need of ours for changing this practice and bring in place the just collection of taxes”, they added. Our industrialists, traders and other tax payers should have professional tax advisors on their affairs as an anti-corruption strategy.
