ISLAMABAD:  Supreme Court (SC) has accepted bail plea of PPP leader Khurshid Shah against surety bonds of Rs 10 million in assets case.

A two members bench of SC presided over by Justice Umar Ata Bandial took up the case for hearing Thursday.

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah inquired during the hearing of the case NAB filed reference against Khurshid Shah on how many properties. Is this nehri land. Then its value will be higher. If the land is arid then its value will be less. The statements of how many witnesses have been recorded so far.

Makhdoom Ali Khan counsel for the petitioner told the court NAB alleged Khurshid Shah of committing corruption in purchase of 574 acres agriculture land. The purchase price of 574 acres land is confirmed from sale deed and collector notification. Reference was made on the basis of 12 properties and 5 bank accounts. This arid 1039 acres land was purchased at the cost of Rs 80000 in 1979 , Abdul Sattar Pirzada sold out this land to some one else in 1982, Khurshid Shah purchased this land from Indar family. The land is irrigated through lift irrigation.

The counsel for NAB told on this occasion investigations against Khurshid Shah have been completed now. The reference could not be filed due to lawyers strike in Sukkur.

The court while accepting bail plea of Khurshid Shah against surety bonds of Rs 10 millions maintained Khurshid Shah name will stay in ECL.
