LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal Syed Yawar Abbas Bukhari offered to utilize the Sanat Zaars’ network to develop and improve the skills of women artisans.

While meeting with a delegation of Handicrafts Association of Pakistan (HAP) and Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Bahawalpur (WCCIB) on Thursday, the minister discussed issues related to craftsmen and both sides agreed to work jointly to promote the artisans’ work by organizing exhibitions.

Syed Yawar Abbas Bukhari appreciated the role of HAP and WCCIB in promoting skills for women empowerment. The social welfare department launched a pilot project to train the youth in specific fields, he said and apprised the delegation that 70 per cent of trained persons have got jobs. The delegation, jointly led by Chairperson HAP Maryam Qasim Khan and President WCCIB Rabia Usman Khan, acknowledged the quality of services provided by the social welfare department and resolved that every possible support would be provided in promoting necessary skills among artisans. The delegation also included Senior Vice Chairperson HAP Aalia Munawar Khan, Vice-Chairperson Rana Muhammad Jahangir, Vice President WCCIB Shabana Zafar and WCCIB member Nighat Mahmood. Ameen Bait-ul-Maal Punjab Malik Muhammad Azam was also present.
