Rawalpindi,(Parliament Times):The wars and conflicts in various regions and the unresolved global conflicts show that the United Nations has failed in its mission.  And now, since the United Nations came into being, more than 20 million people have died in various wars, including the Vietnam War, Israel’s atrocities on the Palestinians, and a million people inside Kashmir. This was stated by Defense Analyst Lt. Gen. (retd) Abdul Qayyum Malik while addressing a seminar in memory of renowned Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Gilani here.  He said that Ali Gilani was a symbol of Pakistan’s ideology and freedom in the occupied valley, a model of perseverance that could not be shaken even by the atrocities of India. Since the founding of the United Nations, more than 20 million people have died in Kashmir, Afghanistan, Russia, Iraq, Syria and other regions.  The reason for this failure is that the major powers have their own interests that prevent the United Nations from operating independently.
