SUJAWAL: Towering literary figure, poet, novelist, educationist, lawyer, musician, and historian Ghulam Hussain Rangrez passed away after a prolonged illness at the Civil Hospital Karachi on Thursday morning, his only son Shafi Mohammad confirmed his death and requested his admirers to pray for the departed soul.
He was found contagious a couple of weeks ago and was shifted to the hospital when his condition started deteriorating but he could not recover and breathed his last at the civil hospital Karachi.
As soon as the news of his death broke out a large number of his students, and people hailing from different sections of life started reaching Mirpur Bathoro the native town of the late where his funeral prayers were to be held. Scores of his admirers and history buffs expressed heartfelt grief on the demise of an eminent literary figure and termed his death a huge loss to Sindh.
Rangrez was a progressive poet and educationist who rendered relentless services in the field of education and literature. He authored several books on poetry and literature. His famous books included “Sarmad Cha tho Soche”, “Wakhar So Wahi”, “Ghulam Ja Thekla”, and “Song Sahi Soch”. and his poetry has been sung by renowned singers including Sarmad Sindhi, Allah Dino Khaskeli, Ahmed Mughal, Sadiq Faqeer, and others.
He wrote Over a dozen books during his lifetime and translated many books of literature in Sindhi language. He was an active literary figure of Sindh but the tragic deaths of his two sons and a daughter tore him apart and impaired his skills. He also wrote novels and short stories and trained several musicians including Allah Dino Khaskeli and Maheboob Khaskeli.
Paying tribute to the illustrious poet Chairman Sindhi Language authority Dr. Mohammad Ali Manjhi that Rangrez was gifted with several qualities he was a dedicated teacher who devoted his life serving Sindh as an educationist, poet, novelist and lawyer. He added that his sublime contributions would always be remembered. On the demise of septuagenarian poet Senator Sassui Pallijo, Deputy Speaker Rehana Laghari, Officials of Sindhi Adabi Sangat and lawyers express their condolences with the bereaved family.
