Karachi: The Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) has expressed grave concern over the summoning of senior journalist and anchor person Nadeem Malik from the FIA’s counter-terrorism wing. CPNE President Arif Nizami and other officials have said in a joint statement that issuing summons under section 160 of the Criminal Code to find out the source of the news should be punished in case of non-compliance. Perhaps, such a move is very worrying and reinforces the impression of direct harassment of journalists. CPNE leaders have demanded the federal government and the FIA ??to immediately withdraw the notice sent to senior journalist Nadeem Malik.
