Islamabad, (Parliament Times) : An internal introductory meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Commerce, was held, under the Chairmanship of Senator Zeeshan Khanzada, here at the Parliament House, on Thursday. The committee discussed in detail the plan of action to be adopted to further boost commerce and trade activities at national and international levels.
Deputy Chairman Mirza Muhammad Afridi while addressing the meeting said that TDAP is an important forum and should apprise the committee about its performance on trade development.
Mirza Afridi emphasized the need tp explore more avenues for trade and commerce with Central Asian States as trade links have been further deepened with CARs in the recent past.
Senator Saleem Mandviwalla said that Commerce Committee is a very significant committee in terms of trade, business and investment.
Senator Nuzhat Sadiq observed that stakeholders should be taken on board in the committee meetings and should be given acknowledgement on their inputs.
Senator Fida Muhammad emphasized that commerce is more specialised field and all the relevant stakeholders should provide candid input on issues to remove hurdles in the way.
The Chairman endorsed and acknowledged the plan of action proposed by the members of the committee and hoped that more concrete proposal would be formulated to improve the economy of the country.
