Islamabad :   Polling for 37 seats of Upper house of parliament to take place today (Wednesday).
Polling will undergo between 9:00 am in the morning to 5:00 pm. Three provincial assemblies and National assembly of Pakistan will act as polling stations. Polling will be done for 11 seats of Sindh assembly, while 12 seat each of Baluchistan and KPK assemblies. Two seats of Federal Capital are also up for polling.
Toughest contest is expected to take place between Former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Advisor to PM on Finance Abdul Hafeez Sheikh on one seat of Islamabad. Four candidates for two seats from Islamabad are contesting the polls.
In Sindh, 10 candidates for 7 general seats, 4 candidates for 2 technocrats’ seats and 3 candidates for 2 women seats will contest the senate polls.
KPK’s 11 candidates for 7 general seats, 5 candidates for two technocrats’ seats, 5 candidates for 2 women seats and 4 candidates for 1 minority seat will contest the tie.
Baluchistan’s 16 candidates for 7 general seats, 4 candidates for 2 technocrats’ seats, 8 candidates for 2 women seats while 4 candidates for 1 minority seat will contest the polls.
