ISLAMABAD:   Former President Asif Ali Zardari has talked to Maulana Fazlur Rehman by telephone and exchanged views on the political situation of the country, senate polls and Long March.

Sources said the two leaders made consultations in respect of candidates of senate polls from KP and other provinces. They also discussed the modus operandi and strategy of long march.

They also made consultations on election campaign of Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani.

Sources said during the telephonic conversation both the leaders said opposition supports that merit and transparency is ensured in senate polls and is in favor of open balloting. But government intention is not good. Government should have taken the opposition into confidence and enacted legislation rather than taking decisions in haste. But government has brought the institutions face to face. Government fears its own members of assembly will cast vote in favor of opposition because they are fed up from government performance. Rulers have proved they cannot run the government.

The two leaders agreed that long march will be succeeded in forceful way and all the decisions will be taken from PDM platform. Opposition will go ahead under a strategy to achieve the motives.

The strategy to give tough time to government in senate polls was also discussed.
