CHARSADDA,   (Parliament Times) :  Child Rights Movement (CRM) in collaboration with National Action & Coordination Group (NACG) and other Civil Society Organisations organized Protest against Rape & Murder of 7- years old minor in Lahore and 2- years old in Charsada on December 29, 2020 at National Press Club, Islamabad.
Syed Kausar Abbas (Coordinator CRM and (CEO- SSDO) said The government must focus more on the prevention of child sexual abuse through introducing Life Skills Based Education, in the mainstream school curriculum of every education system, ranging from private schools to Madaras and orphanages.
He said CRM & NACG also demands for establishing specific police units at district level, linking them with hospitals for medico legal facilities.
Syed Ishtiaq Gilani (Chair NACG, CEO- UGOOD) said Child Rights Movement and NACG also urges the government to take tangible steps for the implementation and replication of the National Commission on the Rights of the Child in other provinces immediately.
It is observed in media reporting the in most of the cases of child sexual abuse Police do not cooperate with aggrieved party. Refusing to register FRI is a very common practice. Due to week investigation and no use of scientific approach to investigate and collect evidence in CSA such cases accused are not being punished. One of the main reasons of increasing CSA is that the victims are not getting justice in a timely manner.
Police reforms, training and sensitization are crucial at this stage. The civil society of Pakistan offers its expertise and resources to engage with police to change the mindset.
