By Sher Zada,
Khar : ( Parliament Times)  District Police Officer’s Office issued show cause notices to Bajaur Levies
force personals who received cash assistance under Benazir Income Support Program (BISP). On
conditions of not disclosing identity an official of Bajaur Levies told parliament times that DPO Bajaur
office asked explanation from 675 Bajaur Levies including Khasadar force’s personals to clear their
position otherwise stir legal actions would be taken against them. The recent actions taken by DPO Bajaur
in light of federal and provincial governments drive against corruption and fund embezzlement in BISP.
However Ex Member of National Assembly Akhunzada Chattan from Pakistan People Party (PPP) stands
in support of Bajaur Levies and Khasard force. Chattan argues that during his tenure in 2008, when
people were internally displaced from erstwhile FATA to settled areas due to the security forces military
operations against militants, that took human lives and caused economic losses to the masses in the war
proven region, he and the then MNA Munir Khan Aurakzai from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) pled Prime
Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani to exclude security personals and low rank government servants from the
tough conditions and requirements designed for the eligibility criteria for BISP registration. Nonetheless
no response has been received from the government and nor a clear mechanism has been made so far to
address this issue.
