Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has decided 100% increase in water bills.
According to media reports, the water bills are being paid by the residents of cant areas two times more than the residents of the city areas and now this 100% increase will put them into difficult situation. The new rates will be implemented from 1st of April.
The Cantt board authorities have attributed the hike in water dues to financial problems of the civic body. The CantT board’s spokesperson Qaiser Mehmood while affirming the decision of 100% increase in water bills said the civic body is facing financial problems.

The Cant board has paid 510 million OM charges to the CDA since 1999. Whereas the Khanpur dam’s water canal ‘bhal safai’ and supervision responsibilities have been given to the cant board which has to incur additional expenses in this regard. .
