Islamabad: (Parliament Times) In recognition of its extraordinary Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR) efforts and initiatives, National University of Sciences & Technology
(NUST) was conferred the CSR Award for “Impact through Education” by the National
Forum for Environment & Health (NFEH) at a graceful ceremony held at the Serena Hotel.
Deputy Speaker National Assembly, Mr Qasim Khan Suri, graced the occasion as chief guest
and bestowed the CSR awards in multiple categories upon the representatives of award
winning organisations and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). Dr Nassar Ikram, Pro-
Rector RIC NUST, received the award on behalf of the university.
The accolade awarded to NUST speaks volumes of how the university is
effervescently engaged in creating discernible positive impact on the communities at large
by providing quality education for all. In conjunction, the award is a token of appreciation
for NUST for bringing a difference in the lives of the underserved by offering need-based
scholarships to the deserving yet financially challenged students from across Pakistan.
Under its flagship NUST Endowment for Educational Development (NEED) initiative, NUST
endeavours to ensure that students from financially challenged backgrounds, who qualify
on merit for admission at the university, are provided financial aid options to pursue their
aspirations. Since 2015, NUST has been able to extend this impact to more than 1500
students and counting. The ever-growing willingness and support of the corporate sector is
one of the defining factors that have accelerated the programme, thus creating more
opportunities for academically sound students from underprivileged backgrounds to
pursue quality education at NUST.
Beyond offering financial assistance to deserving scholars, the university also never
loses focus on establishing an environment based on inclusivity. The recently inaugurated
NUST Balochistan Campus (NBC) at Quetta is a step towards achieving this objective, and
bears witness to its commitment to providing world-class education to students from
across Pakistan. God willing, the initiative is destined to go a long way in the economic,
social and human resource development of Balochistan.
