RAWALPINDI: Despite multiple complaints, the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) authorities are reluctant to take action against Building Super Checker, Parliament Times learnt.

Yousaf Naseer – who is goldsmith by designation – is deputed as building super checker for having close relationships with the higher authorities. The official was suspended a few months ago for using abusive language with the higher officer, but was restored without any departmental inquiry, sources said.

Sources maintained that a residential flat was allocated to Yousaf Naseer in Mall Plaza despite having his own home in Rawalpindi. The official has illegally given the said flat to his relative.

Moreover, being a building super checker the officials is also involving in allegedly backing the illegal construction in different wards of the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCCB) but when any illegal construction is reported instead of taking action against the building super checker the cantonment board authorities take action against the concern building inspectors.

A building inspector at RCB wishing anonymity informed that if any building inspector try to take any action against any illegal construction allegedly backed by the building super checker, he not only blackmail but also initiate action against that inspector, he added.

Sources said, 16 shops are illegally constructed at Salmanabad near Attock Petrol Pump Ward number two of the RCB, similarly, illegal construction of the third story on Peshawar General Store at Misrial Road is about to complete.

Sources said that the building Engineer Shoaib regularly reports the violation of building bye-laws but the higher authorities do not take any action on them.

Despite repeated attempts, the spokesperson and Secretary of RCB Qaiser Mahmood could not be reached for his comments.
