MIRPUR (AJK): (Parliament Times) India violated ceasefire on the Line of control as it resorted to unprovoked ruthless shelling targeting the civil populous areas from across the LoC in Neelam valley sector of Azad Jammu & Kashmir killing a local lad and injuring 9 other civilians besides damaging at least four houses Tuesday afternoon, official sources said.

“A 25-year-old local lad identified as Nouman son of Matti Ullah r/o Sharda town was martyred and nine other civilian inmates of the forward villages close to this side of the LoC were injured when Indian occupation forces opened unprovoked shelling from across the LoC on villages of Athmuqam district of the Neelam valley Tuesday afternoon besides surrounding civilian populous areas”, Incharge Officer Police Control Room Athumuqaam told this Correspondent over telephone Tuesday evening.

Defying all international norms, Indian troops targeted the forward populous areas in Nelam valley including Dhudhniyal, Taijiyaan, Sharda, Keil, Salkhala, Joora Falakanm Katha Choghali, lawaat and Nagdar where at least five houses were badly damaged during the unprovoked Indian shelling, which continued intermittently till Tuesday evening, the PCR said.

Four of the innocent persons injured in Dhudniyala and one each in Joora, Falakan, Salkhala and Chaliyana villages, it said adding that Pakistani forces gave a befitting response to unprovoked Indian firing silencing the guns of the enemy

Local journalist and eye witness Khawaja Shahid Iqhal from the Indian firing hit forward village Dhudhniyal told this scribe over telephone that India at about 2.00 pm on Tuesday resorted to the unprovoked firing in the Neelam valley targeting the civilian populous areas from Marvel to Keil belt along the Neelam Highway which was closed for several hours following firing from across the LoC.

Elaborating, Shahid said that Indian forces in violation of ceasefire line opened indiscriminate firing targeting Athmuqam and its surrounding areas, martyring a local boy Noumaan who was resident of Sharda besides injuring over nine other local residents.

Meanwhile local officials of district administration, police, district disaster management authority (DDMA) and district headquarter hospital remained high alert to cope with any emergent situation. An emergency cell has also been set up for any emergency or information by DDMA.

AJK President Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan and Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan have strongly denounced Indian forces unprovoked firing on Neelam valley.
