ZHOB: “Thousands poor and deserving patients suffering from eye ailments received free consultation, surgeries and lens at the free eye medical and surgical camp held at DHQ civil hospital Zhob”, said In-charge Leprosy and Blindness Control Program Syed Moin-ud-Din Shah while talking to journalists here on Wednesday.

Following the two-day camp, he said Leprosy and Blindness Control Programme Health Department Balochistan and Marie Adelaide Leprosy Centre Karachi organized the free medical and surgical camp supported by New Zealand High Commission to provide free consultation and surgical facilities free of charges to poor and deserving patients belonging to far-flung areas of Zhob and neighboring districts Sherani, Musakhail and Killa Saifullah Balochistan.

“Renowned ophthalmologists at provincial level examined over six thousand and two hundred eye patients and eye surgeons conducted two hundred eye surgeries besides two hundred more received lens free of charges,” he said.

“Prominent eye specialists at provincial level including Dr. Shakoor Alam Mandokhail, Dr. Sheikh Afzal Mandokhail, Dr. Mehfooz-ul-Islam, Dr. Chakar Kashani and Dr. Saifullah Nasar left no stone unturned to serve the ailing humanity in backward area,” he said.

“Serving humanity is the supreme act of worship. Leprosy and Blindness Control Programme continues its duty through the best utilization of available resources.” He added.

He thanked MALC, New Zealand High Commission, Leprosy and Blindness Control Prgramme Balochistan, Health Department, CM Adviser, DC, DHO, media Scout volunteers, Para medical staff, FC, police and others for their generous contribution.

He said that thousands of people are suffering from different eye diseases, because of using contaminated water and he said that dust, smoke and different allergies also caused eye ailments. He explained.
