PALANDARI: (Parliament Times) Fire broke out in the beautiful forest of the adjoining area of Palandari, Kaakrol Galkot, on Friday night. Anchor Person Ptv News, Rashid Yaqoob Khan witnessed the fire while coming towards Islamabad. He made an immediate contact to AJK Secretary Forest, Shehla Waqar who took the prompt notice and issued emergency orders to put control on fire. She ordered Administrator Forest Poonch, Sardar Iftikhar to take action, control fire, and submit report immediately. Officers and workers of the department of Forest worked whole night to save the worthy forest from fire. Secretary forest, Shehla Waqar remained in continuous contact with her team whole night. The successful efforts of the forest department saved forest from huge devastation.
Speaking to the media persons, Anchor Ptv News Rashid Yaqoob Khan said that forests are the real beauty of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). Strict actions should be taken against those who are involved in setting forests on fire. The need of the hour is to spread the awareness regarding the importance of forest through school and colleges. Secretary Forests, Shehla Waqar is a brave lady. She has special fascination for forests. Her efforts saved forest from fire. Local community should also play its vital role for saving forests, he further said.
