Rawalpindi:   (Parliament Times)   The Punjab Food Authority’s enforcement teams sealed food businesses including dairy shop, chicken shop and general store on Thursday. The authority also penalized several food business operators with heavy fine tickets while carrying out a food inspection drive in Rawalpindi.

On the directions of PFA Director General Captain (R) Muhammad Usman, food safety teams inspected various eateries and food processing units in order to ensure the provision of safe and standard quality food for the public as per the vision of the Punjab Government.

The teams have sealed shops for selling gutka and adulterated milk, the presence of washroom in the production area, an abundance of insects, not taking preventative measures to control pests and failing to meet hygienic working environment. The dairy safety team has disposed of 8,360 litres of chemically contaminated milk. PFA officials have imposed Rs94,000 fine on nine FBOs in Rawalpindi due to substandard operations. The teams have also discarded a huge quantity of unwholesome food including 4,550 litres chemically contaminated milk, fruits , and vegetables. PFA also served warning notices for improvement to 45 eateries in a daylong operation.
