ISLAMABAD: PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has rebuked party central leader Khurshid Shah for allowing PML-N to change chairman Public Accounts Committee (PAC) without consultation saying talking on such vital decisions without consultation of party chairman is sheer breach of party policy.
Sources told Online former Opposition leader Syed Khurshid Shah made consultations with PML-N leadership on the matter of changing PAC chairman in his personal capacity without any consultation with PPP. He asked PML-N leadership to change PAC chairman but he did not inform PPP leadership on this count.
PPP expressed grave concern after the PML-N changed its chairman of PAC saying PML-N has changed its chairman without consultation with PPP party leadership and made Rana Tanvir Hussain PAC chairman.
PPP spokesperson Nafisa Shah held press conference in this respect.
Khurshid Shah met PPP high command and in this meeting co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, Farhat Ullah Babar and Rukhsana Bangash were also present.
During the meeting Khurshid Shah told the participants that he had discussed with PML-N leadership matter of change of PAC chairman.
Asif Ali Zardari exploded his ire on Khurshid Shah and he said while addressing Khurshid Shah “ why have you taken such a major decision without consultation with party and why you have talked to PML-N in personal capacity. This step on your part runs contrary to party policy.
Sources said former senator Rukhsana Bangash and Khurshid Shah exchanged bitter remarks with each other during the meeting. The other leaders present in the meeting pacified both of them.
They however expressed resentment on Khurshid Shah saying “ you may have relations with PML-N but this is alien to party policy.
Sources said that former opposition leader Syed Khurshid Shah has remained very close to PML-N during PML-N tenure and due to it PPP was accused of doing friendly opposition. But Khurshid Shah preferred his personal interest to party interests and he kept on siding with PML-N on every issue. In this backdrop he did not take into confidence party leadership on the issue of change of APC chairman.
Sources told Online that PPP supported Shahbaz Sharif in the matter of his nomination as chairman APC saying it is right of opposition leader to become chairman PAC. Offer was extended to PPP for the post of chairman APC but PPP had refused to accept it.
