AJK jail inmates to be emerged as useful citizens after completion of their terms,

MIRPUR (AJK):      Deputy Inspector General of Prisons, Azad Jammu Kashmir Liaqat Hussain Naqvi Friday visited Central Jail Mirpur to inquire about the living conditions of its inmates and other related means in line with the jail manual.
    Superintendent Central Jail Syed Yasir Hussain Kazmi received the top boss of the AJK Prisons Department on his on his arrival to the jail and apprised him of the details of the stipulated facilities being extended to over 260 prisoners including the convicted as well as under-trial inmates. Superintendent Jail said that about 40 death-row prisoners were also being housed in the prisons and they might be executed any time on landing of the black warrants from the authorities.
The DIG went through all barracks and other parts of the prison and inquired about the well being of the inmates individually besides inquiring about the facilities being extended by the jail authorities according to the stipulated jail manual.
Naqvi also visited the mess of the jail meant for the prisoners to assess the quality of food being provided to the inmates.
Talking to the prisoners, the DIG disclosed that a Public Call Office was being installed in the jail premises according to the set rules and regulations to facilitate the prisoners with the due telephonic access to their families and other concerned legitimate persons to whom they intend to talk at par with the jail manuals set in the prisons in Punjab province, he added.
Liaqat Hussain Naqvi said that all the due facilities, being provided to the prisoners in the jails in Punjab province, will now also be available in all prisons in Azad Jammu & Kashmir.
Naqvi expressed satisfaction over the living conditions of the prisoners following delivery  of the stipulated facilities in line with the jail rules and regulations. He  assured more due infrastructural facilities for the inmates to make them useful citizens for serving the country on completion of their stipulated term of imprisonment.
 Superintendent Central Jail  Syed Yasir Kazmi told the DIG on this occasion  that the inmates of the prison were being  given professional technical training in diverse  disciplines especially in the information technology to ensure their future being the useful citizen after completion of their stipulated  period  behind the bars.
     Talking to the jail staffers and the  inmates the DIG Prisons said that under  a broad-based plan, the dwellers of AJK prisons were being given training to the prisoners in computer education, electricity, welding, carpet manufacturing and tailoring and other technical disciplines. The existing shortage of staff in various AJK prisons was being met by the government under the annual uplift plan on priority grounds with time to time induction of fresh required staff members including wardens.
