ISLAMABAD: (Parliament Times) The AJK information minister Mushtaq Ahmed Minhas said digital media is not only fast but also very powerful.
Talking in State View programme here on the other day he said lots of work is underway for promotion of tourism in the state. This year state government was observing as the year of tourism which shows that government was very serious to exploit the potential of tourism in AJK.
He said Prime Minister Imran Khan agreed with scores of his suggestions on tourism and directed to make them part of his tourism strategy.
He said difference of opinion is part of politics but it should be resolved in party parliamentary meetings. He said 3-4 cabinet members have some grudges with him and the prime minister. Some differ with way of governance. But he said these are parts of a democratic set up.
He said senior minister Tariq Farooq who is an experienced leader had differences which he expressed through social media and print media. Farooq said though he had differences with the decisions of party leader but he can’t think of bringing no confidence or harm the unity of the party. He said now they have settled scores of their issues.
To another question he said he was not self publicity hungry. As he was in media and had already tasted enough of it. In the beginning he was being sent cuttings of newspapers but soon he forbidden director information of doing that. He was told that information department regularly sends paper cuttings to President, Prime Minister and Information Minister to apprise them what was being published in the print media about government or its performance.
When asked why he did not bring national media to cover the mounted escalation between India and Pakistan at LoC, Minhas said there were scores of reasons for it. It is a pretty sensitive matter as when national electronic media covers border events the enemy could see sensitive locations too. It gives an edge to the enemy and helps it to target the sensitive areas, he maintained.
