ISLAMABAD: Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh has remarked payment cannot be made for Nai Gaj dam out of Bahria Town money.
He further remarked “ ECNEC is a constitutional forum and its respect is necessary. The matter of construction of Nai Gaj dam was sent by Supreme Court (SC) to ECNEC. Wapda proposal was not accepted by ECNEC. It seems as if there is misconception between two federating units on the matter of cost.
A 3-member bench of Supreme Court (SC) presided over by Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh took up the case for hearing Wednesday.
Deputy Attorney General (DAG) took the plea total cost of dam is 46 billion rupees. Sindh government has to pay Rs 10 billion out of it.
The court while summoning reply from government of Sindh on ECNEC decision adjourned the hearing of the case till first week of May.
