Brussels: Chairman Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU) Mr Ali Raza Syed has praised a statement issued by All Party Group European Parliament on Kashmir (APGK) for supporting rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir particularly their right to self-determination.

In their joint statement President Julie Ward (MEP) and Vice President of APGK Klaus Buchner (MEP) said, they have been intensively following the politics in Kashmir and are convinced that the right for self- determination should no longer be refused for Kashmir.

 

Referring exploitation of Hindutva as an electoral tool by Modi’s government, the statement asked India to abstain from any (purely electoral) accusations, harassment and detention of the moderate opposition in Kashmir.

Chairman Kashmir Council EU said, the concerns of the Member of EU’s parliament (MEPs) about use excessive force by Indian military that lead to “unlawful killings” and a high number of injuries, many caused by pellet-firing shotguns, is highly noticeable.

As the EU’s parliament group urged a respect of human rights in Kashmir, Ali Raza Syed called upon the European Union to play its significant role for preventing human rights violations in Indian Held Kashmir and for an acceptable resolution of Kashmir issue according to the wishes of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

 

Welcoming the MEPs’ statement, chairman’s KC-EU Ali Raza Syed further said, there should be an international investigation into human rights violations in IHK and all the criminals involved in human rights violations should also be trialed through the international court of law.

Ali Raza Syed called for final political solution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute through meaningful dialogue that includes the people of Kashmir.

 

Chairman Kashmir Council EU asked international community including EU and UN to pressurize India for implementation of UN’s resolutions on Kashmir in order provide right of self-determination to the people of Kashmir.

The international community should immediately intervene and stop human rights violation in IHK and play an effective role for just resolution of Jammu and Kashmir dispute, Ali Raza Syed urged.
