MIRPUR (AJK): Law-enforcing agencies rounded up four activists of the banned organization besides recovering and confiscating huge catchy of illicit arms and explosive material from the custody of the arrested accused, police said.

Disclosing this, Senior Superintendent police Mirpur Syed Riaz Haider Bukhari told media here on Thursday that preliminary interrogation from the arrested accused spoke of their ties with the banned TTP – Tehreek – e – Talibaan Pakistan. “Further investigations are in progress”, the district police Chief said.

Elaborating, the SSP said that four of the arrested accused included Shehzad Ahed son of Muhammad Nisaar and Muhammad Shamraiz Mumtaz son of Mumtaz Khan. Both of the accused were arrested by adjoining Islamgarh town police during the search operation.

Riaz Haider Bukhari continued that the arrests were made during stringent surprise search operation by the local police with the coordination of other law enforcement agencies at the entry points of Mirpur district in the wake of the ongoing operation ‘Rad-al-fasaad’ under National Action Plan, already in progress nation-wide including Azad Jammu Kashmir to vanish terrorism and the subversive elements from their roots.

The SSP said that above two accused were apprehended during the search operation at one of the entry / exit points of Mirpur district. The arrested accused have been booked in various police stations in the district where they disclosed about their links with the banned TTP in the past.

Expressing the resolve of the local police force to be alert and vigilant every moment to effectively combat against every bid of the menace of terrorism and subversion in the district, the SSP said that sincere complete peace prevails in Mirpur district, yet all out foot proof security arrangements by been made by the law enforcement agencies including the police at all entry points of the district in view of the prevailing escalation of tension in the region.

“Police is continuing to keep a close watch to unearth and discourage every subversive attempt of the anti-state and subversive elements under the National Action Plan (NAP) with prime focus to to ensure the safety of life and property of the masses through stringent steps, Bukhari said.

The SSP appealed to the masses to keep a close eye around themselves and immediately inform the police about the dubious activities of any of the suspicious person or the group of persons, if found, he added.
