MUZAFFARABAD: (Parliament Times) The AJK Chief Secretary Mathar Niaz Rana said Red-tape practices need to be ended from the State for use of state resources judiciously, enhancement in revenue and to overcome unemployment.

Addressing the divisional officers’ meeting here on Wednesday he urged for special attention on joint trades in private sector, skillfulness and growth of livestock in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

“Apart from animal fostering scheme, proper heed should be paid to animals that give milk for generating home revenue” he said. He emphasized upon reducing dependence on forests and setting up local industry projects to better the economy. All the departments should give their best performance to achieve the set targets, he added.

Commissioner Muzaffarabad division Ch. Imtiaz, DIG Muzaffarabad Sardar Ilyas, Superintendent Electricity Saeed Gillani, and heads of divisional department were present in the meeting who briefed the CS about the development projects of their respective departments. They also informed him on the problems faced to their departments. Responding to their problems the CS ordered swift resolution of certain issues.

Rana made it clear to them that public welfare was top priority of all of us. We should settle down issues with mutual consultation and cooperation, he stated. He said our team consists of competent officers and is determined for development of the State.

The CS urged to give special attention on the promotion of livestock and poultry for home economic promotion and asked the banks to enhance loan cases from 300 to 5000 to facilitate the people to foster animals and poultry stuff at large scale. It would not only meet the local needs but it could also be supplied to other regions of the State to boost the home and state resources, he said.

He was of the view that we need to cut down the dependence on the revenue of forests and plant maximum number of trees for future generations. The existing forests need to be protected for environmental pollution and clean atmosphere. He directed the concerned officials to ensure use of modern technology, state interests and file work while formulating policies for minerals. He said there should be check posts for minerals too. Check posts of forests could also be used for minerals, he remarked.

Rana said he would visit the site for special economic zone on next Monday. This economic zone would benefit the entire State, he explained. He said the targets set for it should be achieved at the earliest.

The Chief Secretary also directed sports department to hold maximum number of championships and competitions of different sports to promote the healthy activities for youth in the state. He said celebrations for spring should be held in Muzaffarabad in collaboration with tourism department and competition of different events should be held on such occasion.

He appreciated the efforts for growth of co-generation of animals and their distribution on concessional rates to the citizens.

Rana also directed commissioner Muzaffarabad to provide 50 canal lands to livestock department at Domeshi for pasture. Expressing satisfaction, he said It is a good news that electricity department had achieved its revenue targets in Muzaffarabad division. He was told by Superintending engineer of electricity that his department had received 309 million more than set target in Muzaffarabad division. He said line losses were also checked.

The CS directed to complete projects of public interest, production of jobs and revenue as early as possible. He said government would provide all necessary facilities for development of State. The concerned departments should make summery in this regard for approval. All the impediments including red tap culture should be ended to provide better facilities to the masses, he exhorted.
