MIRPUR (AJK): A high-level 7-member Kashmiri delegation, attending the ongoing 40th Session of United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, met with Special Rappoter on the situation of human rights defenders Micheal Frost and apprised him about the prevailing deteriorated HR situation in Indian occupied Jammu Kashmir and frequent incidents of unprovoked shelling by the Indian occupational forces on the civilians living along the line of control in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, says an official message reaching and released to the media here on Wednesday.

The Kashmir delegation which met Special Rapporter included Sardar Amjad Yousaf, Executive Director KIIR, Syed Faiz Naqashbandi, Ms Shamem Shawl, Hussan Banna, Miss Shugfta Ashraf and Advocate Parvez Ahmad Shah.

During the meeting, the delegation briefed the Special Rapporter, in detail, of the frequent crackdown conducted by the India’s Nation Investigating Agency – NIA on the Kashmiri Hurriyat leadership, women defenders and journalists in the bleeding vale of Kashmir, the message said.

Later while talking to this Correspondent over telephone from Geneva Wednesday afternoon, leader of the delegation Sardar Amjad Yousaf said that the delegation while discussing the report of the High Commissioner for Human Rights submitted to the Human Rights Council declared that the report had generated a hope amongst the families of victims that international community was concerned about the violations perpetrated by the occupational forces and expect serious action against these violations from the august forum in the disputed held state.

“The use of pallet guns resulting in blinding of civilians of all ages, Denial to freedom of expression ,detention of human rights defenders under Public Safety Act which has become the routine of the Occupational forces in Indian occupied Kashmir was also brought into the notice of Special Rapporter”, Yousaf said while responding to a question.
