ISLAMABAD: Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Geng Shuang said that any attempt to undermine the friendship between Pakistan and China is doomed to fail. He made these comments following the attack on the Chinese Consulate in Karachi.
The spokesperson said during a press briefing on Wednesday that according to the investigations by Pakistan, the attack on the Chinese Consulate in Karachi on November 23 was a terrorist attack, which killed two Pakistani police officers and injured one security guard. Two civilians were also killed and all three militants were shot dead, he said.
He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had offered condolences to the Chinese consul general via telephone after the attack. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi briefed China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi about the situation and Pakistan assured them that they will crack down on those responsible for the attack.
“The facts once again prove that the friendship between China and Pakistan is higher than mountains and deeper than oceans and that our two peoples share weal and woe,” he said.
Geng thanked Pakistan’s police and said China mourns the death of those policemen who lost their lives and expressed sincere sympathy to the injured.
