Rawalpindi: Decision has been taken to convert an old office of Municipal Corporation (MC) located at Liaquat Road into a ‘Shelter Home’.
According to media reports, Federal Minister for Health Amir Kiyani, Chairman Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Arif Abbasi, deputy commissioner and others visited the building of MC and issued important directions in this regard.
Shelter-less women, children and men who sleep on roads and footpaths will be provided with temporary shelter for three days besides meeting their basic needs including serving meals to them.
This four storey building of Municipal Corporation has been made clean and the items which were lifted from markets during anti encroachment drive and kept in this building have been shifted.
Furniture is being purchased for the building and a mess will also be established for the inmates on ground floor.
First, second and third floor of the building will be used as residences for inmates.
This Shelter home will formally be inaugurated after almost one month.
