    Over 770 luxuries vehicles to be auctioned soon

    Islamabad: The Supreme Court (SC) was informed on Monday that federal and provincial governments had presented over 770 luxuries for auction.
    The vehicles were in the use of federal and provincial governments. A two-member bench, headed by Justice Ijazul Ahsan, conducted hearing of the case pertaining to luxuries vehicles.
    Deputy Attorney General, during the hearing, informed the top court judges that the federal government had taken 33 luxuries vehicles back. He further informed the apex court that the federal cabinet had 17 vehicles in total, of which, 15 vehicles have been placed on protocol and two have been handed over to the government for auction. The deputy attorney general said 16 others will also be auctioned.
    He further briefed the top court that chassis numbers of 354 vehicles have been tempered, and 294 are under FBR use and 58 are being used by the federal cabinet.
    Additional Advocate General Punjab informed the apex court that the Punjab government had a total of 201 vehicles, of which 38 had been taken back. He said the matter will be placed before the provincial cabinet and later the vehicles will be handed over for auction.
    Additional Advocate General Sindh briefed the top court that the Sindh had 149 luxuries vehicles. The provincial cabinet will decide in the next meeting whether the vehicles will be auctioned or not.
    Additional Advocate General Baluchistan told the court that the Baluchistan government had 551 luxuries vehicles in total. He informed the court that 70 per cent vehicles have completed their life and 30 per cent vehicles need service.
    He further informed the court that a provincial minister was allowed to use three vehicles. The KP government, however, sought time for details. The court after directing the KP government to submit report today adjourned the case till indefinite time period.
