Islamabad: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Friday expressed concern over non-issuance of visas to Pakistani pilgrims (zaireen) aspiring to visa Iraq.
In a meeting with Iraq’s ambassador Dr Ali Yassin Mohammed Karim in Islamabad, the foreign minister raised the matter about the pilgrims facing problems in attending Arbaeen- the religious commemoration marking 40 days after the Ashura Day.
Qureshi told the Iraqi ambassador that the pilgrims who travel by road need more time so they should be issued visa as soon as possible. The ambassador assured the foreign minister of maximum cooperation from Iraqi side for issuance of visas in transparent manner.
Meanwhile, the foreign minister held farewell meeting with Spain’s Ambassador for Pakistan Carlos Morales. Qureshi, during the meeting, lauded the services of the Ambassador for improving ties between Pakistan and Spain. He said Morales, during his ambassadorship, used all out efforts to improve Spain’s economic, trade and diplomatic relations with Pakistan.
The outgoing Ambassador said Spain gives importance to its ties with Pakistan and aspirant to improve its bilateral ties with Islamabad. The FM said Spain is a great country for tourism and best destination for Pakistani tourists.
