Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani has strongly condemned the arrest of two Kashmiri engineering students by Indian police in Delhi and termed their detention as a ploy to intimidate the Kashmiri student fraternity engaged in their studies in Indian educational institutions.
Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar described the police action as a deliberate attempt to spoil the future of student community from Jammu and Kashmir and said that scores of such cases could be cited as an example wherein Kashmir-based students were implicated in fictitious cases and were acquitted by the courts after a long trail of 15 and 16 years of ordeal in different jails of India.
The APHC chairman quoted the proverb that ‘a wearer knows where the shoe pinches’ and asked, “Is there any court of law which may renovate the prime of the youth to such persons after spending 15 years in illegal imprisonment and then declare them not guilty?”
He extended his gratitude and paid rich tributes to the unwavering commitment and resolve displayed by senior APHC leader Masarrat Aalam Butt, and regretted the denial of justice to the prisoners of conscience belonging to the resistance movement of Kashmir.
He said slapping of PSA for the 36th time on Masarrat Aalam Butt has created a history of non-compliance of the judicial orders at the hands of administration. He urged the United Nations Human Rights Commission and other recognized institutions to take serious notice of the plight of prisoners languishing in and outside the jails of the territory and take Masarrat Aalam’s case as a sample of injustice and lawlessness.
