Islamabad: Adiala jail authorities have regretted to present former PM Nawaz Sharif in court in connection with hearing of Al-Azizia steel mills reference due to security concerns today on Friday.
As per media reports, Judge Arshad Malik of Accountability Court (AC) took up for hearing the reference of Al-Azizia steel mills against Nawaz Sharif on Thursday.
Former PM Nawaz Sharif was brought into the court under strict security measures. A large number of PML-N leaders entered the court room but Judge Arshad Malik sent some of the leaders out of the room by calling security officers.
At the inception of hearing, JIT head Wajid Zia avoided to give reply to the questions asked about the reforms of statistics when the lawyer of Nawaz Sharif Khawaja Haris started cross questioning.
Wajid Zia told the court that Khawaja Haris is completely questioning about technical terms.
??I can tell according to my general knowledge and understanding, and there could be a chance of error??, he added.
Khawaja Haris inquired that had JIT asked for the financial statement of audited accounts of HME from Saudi authorities. .
Wajid Zia told the court that I will have to see the record to answer this question. The MLA written to Saudi authorities is present in volume 10. Volume 10 is sealed and is not available with him at present.
Court directed to bring the relevant part of volume 10 on the request of Wajid Zia and prosecutor.
Khawaja Haris said that documents submitted by co-accused are being shown in our account.
NAB prosecutor took the stance that when you have not given these documents why are you cross-questioning him.
The court directed to send Nawaz Sharif back to Adyala Jail after a break while Adyala jail authorities excused to present Nawaz Sharif in the court on Friday due to security concerns.
Jail Authorities informed the court that there is a chance of sit-ins and rallies so we can not present Nawaz Sharif due to security concerns.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Chauhdary Tanveer, Asif Karamani, Pervaiz Rasheed, Raja Zafar-ul-Haq, Senator Ghos Niaz and Mayor Islamabad Sheikh Ansar met Nawaz Sharif in the court room.
