Islamabad: (Parliament Times) Senior journalist/analyst Mr. Khizer Hayat Abbasi has been appointed as press secretary to president of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Abbasi, one amongst the top rank journalists and political commentators of the region, is reckoned to be a pioneer of English Journalism in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He has been associated with journalism for last several decades. He worked with one of the prestigious and largest circulated English Daily “The News” for so many years. Besides pioneer team member of The News International (Jhang Group) and Geo News he had also served both the organisations as Special Correspondent from the Capital City of AJK.
Having a vast journalistic experience of both print and electronic media Abbasi had recently joined Daily Parliament Times as its resident editor Muzaffarabad. In 2000 Abbasi went to United Kingdom (UK) for Media Course where he spent one and half year and served in different media outlets. He had also served the largest circulated newspaper Daily Siasat Muzaffarabad as its founding Editor back in 1998-2000. In 2010 he launched the first ever English Daily Heights from Muzaffarabad as its Editor. Before joining Presidency he was serving as Resident Editor with English Daily Parliament Times and regularly contributing for prominent national English dailies. His features and articles on Kashmir dispute were also published by The Express Tribune and Kashmir Narrator Srinagar regularly.
Abbasi had also played vital role to work for the welfare and capacity building of the AJK journalists from the platform of Capital Journalists Forum (CJF) as its patron-in-chief. His nomination for the post has been appreciated widely in journalistic circles.
Meanwhile, the chief editor Daily Parliament Times, Mr. Javed Iqbal and other staff members have extended their sincere wishes and congratulations to Abbasi for assuming the new job.
