Rawalpindi: (Parliament Times) The funeral prayers of veteran journalist and central secretary General of Jammu and Kashmir PNP Aftab Ahmed, who died due to cardiac arrest in Thailand’s capital city Bangkok a couple of days back, was held here at Liaqat Bagh.
The funeral prayers of deceased was attended by a large number of people including the members of journalist community. Latter on the dead body of Aftab Ahmed was sent to his native village Chaprian Hajira district Poonch Azad Kashmir where he will be laid to eternal rest.
Meanwhile a condolence reference was held in memory of the deceased journalist at Rawalpindi press club, which was attended by president Kashmir Journalist Forum Abid Khursheed, Nawa Khan Naji member Assembly Gilgit Baltistan, PNP chairman Raja Zulfiqar,President AKNS Amer Mehboob, chief editor Daily Parliament Times Mr. javed Iqbal, Abid Abbasi in chare Rawalpindi press club, Sardar Zahid Tabbasum, Amjad chudhary, Bashir Usmani, Ejaz Abbasi, Imtiaz Bhat, Nisar Kiani and several others. The participants of the condolence meeting paid tributes to his social and journalistic services. It is worth to mention here that Aftab has been a proactive student leader of the PNP. He formally joined the party (UKPNP) in 1998. In 1999 he convened the Kashmir National Students organisation’s convocation at Trarkhal where he was unanimously elected as chairman of the party. Later on he started his journalism career by joining Islamabad based Urdu daily Ausaf. After working with it for couple of years he got associated with Weekly Pooch Time and rendered his services as an Editor. In 2004 he formally disassociated himself from PNP (United) and established his own organistation-Kashmir Democratic Students Organisation. However, he rejoined the UK PNP and since then he has been rendering his duties as central Secretary General of the party.
